In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: (Extra)ordinary.
On a horse ranch (my daughter and I live on one right now,) horses are of course very ordinary. I feed them, clean up after them, and make sure they have enough water. We live in the desert. The water part takes a lot of time, but the horses are a cherished part of our every day life.
What I perceived as extra ordinary, with this every day scene at the ranch, is the connection between the little girl and the horse. This particular horse, often act as a protector around my daughter. When we check the fences on the pasture, that she shares with several other brood mares, she follows my daughter around, not letting other horses come near her. I’ve experienced this behavior with female horses before, that they adopt a human child that they like.
Horses are extremely intelligent animals, with a wide range of emotions. They are just like people, you can trust some of them with your life, and other you’d be wise to watch your back around. I prefer the first kind 🙂 If you want to see more every day photos from the ranch, check out my Instagram account.
Have a great weekend!!
