Amazing Places in Northern California

I’m going to start the new year, with a brand new series of blog posts; Amazing Places in Northern California. It’s based on wishes from several of my amazing (that’s YOU) followers.

Northern California, is definitely one of my favorite areas in the whole world. For good reasons, it features some of the most spectacular nature; ranging from the Pacific Ocean, to deep forests, amazing parks, exciting trails, big rivers, and some really unique small towns. The wide open spaces, and the ever present mountains, are naturally two major factors that attracts me to the area.

I’m going to share photos, thoughts, some local culture, and impressions from this corner of the world. I hope that you will enjoy this series. Maybe you get some inspiration for your next road trip, or simply enjoy the virtual tour. Part of my new year resolution for this coming year, is to become a better story teller. Learning by doing have always been my way, so I’m going to practice on you 😉 I hope that’s OK!

I’m going to start out light, with a park that my daughter and I visited last week. In this first post I’m going to take you to Clover Creek Preserve. It’s actually one of my favorite parks, in Redding (CA.)

Clover Creek Preserve, is a beautiful city park. It was originally created to maintain flood control for endangered properties in the city of Redding (CA.)

The park serves as a natural environmental restoration, and educational area.

Clover Creek Preserve, features a great trail system, and attracts runners, hikers, and bicyclist alike. It’s a very popular spot for dog owners to bring their furry friends (it’s an on-leash park only.)

The park is very peaceful, and only ten minutes (by car,) from downtown Redding.

If there’s anything in particular that you would love to see/read about in Amazing Places in Northern California, please let me know!

Happy New Year! Gott Nytt År!

PS. A selection of the best shots from the series will be available as prints, in my gallery.

The Most Amazing Views

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

Nothing makes me feel more complete than wide open spaces, mountains, and fresh air. Or maybe that’s not entirely true, it is even better when shared.

A Daughter is just a little girl who grows up to be your best friend.

I just found this photo from a hike I did with my daughter a couple months ago, and wanted to share it with you. I hope you’re having a great Wednesday!

Virginia City, Nevada

We went on a spur of the moment trip, to the old mining town Virginia City  (NV,) last night. You know the famous, wild town from the TV series Bonanza?

It wasn’t my first time there, but the first time during winter, and the first time when I actually could see something. Funny thing, since it was night..but the streets of this beautiful little town are usually crowded with tourists. A cold December night turned out to be a great time to visit!

I really wanted to share a couple photos from last night. I can recommend a visit, if you want to experience the Wild West up close and personal. Most of these bars are actually open, and you can enjoy a beer, and some really good food in Virginia City. Just watch out for the wild horses on the road, while driving up there!

I hope you had an awesome weekend!

Yours,

Maria

PS. I just noticed that, as of today, there’s 899 amazing people following this blog! Since I just started this blog, this makes me very happy! Thank you! …and would you maybe consider helping me reach 1000 followers?

Now

What day is it?”

“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.

“My favorite day,” said Pooh.

For this week’s challenge, take a moment to notice your now, and share a photo of it.

The weekly photo challenge at The Daily Post, goes hand in hand with the theme I choose for my gratitude challenge this week – Now. Being mindful during the holiday season, and savor each precious moment. Sometimes it’s easier said than done. I snapped this beautiful shot of my daughter as she was getting dressed for a holiday party. She was already half way out the door, on her way to the party. Happy, and excited, as only a kid can be. We had a wonderful Christmas this year, and my mind have many happy snapshots like this one, to savor for future years. This is my Now, and I am so grateful for it!

Every Saturday I host a gratitude challenge. I share something that I am grateful for, and encourage you to do the same! I would love it, if you would join my Gratitude Challenge! Write about something you are gratfeul for, tag your post MJP Gratitude Challenge, and share. Being grateful attracts more good stuff to your life!

Have an amazing Saturday!

Yours,

Maria
