Going on a road trip always makes me feel on top of my world (along with jeans that fits just right, boots, and being on the back of a brave horse) !! My daughter shares that feeling. Right now we’re on a road trip in my favorite road trip state Nevada!

Of course our favorite roads are not the usual highways, but rather endless dirt roads.

This week, consider your point of view as you respond to this challenge’s theme, “Atop.” If you’re physically on top of a thing or a place — a mountain, a skyscraper — what type of scene do you want to share in your frame? Consider, too, other interpretations of “Atop” — what does it mean or look like to be on top of a soapbox? A bestseller list? The world?

Show us your best image — we look forward to seeing everyone’s takes!

What make you feel on top of your world?

Gracefulness is a tricky quality — it manifests itself as an effortless, subtle harmony between a subject and its environment.

Graceful is the theme for this week’s photo challenge at The Daily Post.

Real, live, animal cats, are the image of graceful. I don’t know about this cat though..but we had lots of fun dressing up as cats.

I am blessed with three bonus kids this week, while their parents are on vacation. My daughter LOVES it! There’s been a lot of arts and crafts, dress-up, and fun imaginary games. We’re still having a winter storm, with lots of rain, and have been spending more time than usual inside (the youngest kid is only ten months.) It’s busy, busy, busy, with more fun than you can imagine! It’s another aspect that I enjoy very much, seeing my daughter interact with other children. Of course it would be a totally different thing if I always had four kids, but to borrow a few, from time to time, that is pure joy!

Have an awesome weekend! I know I will 🙂

I thoroughly enjoyed the first light this morning, walking through this walnut groove in northern California. The ambience  created by the old crooked trees, the cold winter air, the frozen ground, and the sun conquering the morning inch by inch.

What have you photographed with exceptional ambience? Perhaps you’ve visited a spectacular garden, indulged in a candlelit dinner, experienced a roaring fireplace on a cold night, or enjoyed some laughter with friends in a wonderful place?

Join the weekly photo challenge Ambience! Feel free to post a link to your post in a comment. I’m trying to check out as many entries as possible. It’s always so inspiring to see many different takes on the same theme.

All the best,

Starting to feel a lot like CHRISTMAS!

I’m not going to wish you a Merry Christmas yet, so Happy Friday! Have man awesome weekend 🙂

(Disclaimer; today’s photos are not available in my gallery, just family photos sharing the spirit of the coming holidays!)

New Horizon

Happy Trails Wood Print featuring the photograph Happy Trails by Maria Jansson

This photo is taken at the start of the famous Tevis Cup, the world toughest endurance race. With the new year fast approaching, it’s difficult to not think about new years resolutions, and goals. Riding the Tevis Cup 2017, on a mustang I trained myself, was my goal. It was realistic when I set the goal, a couple years ago. Then life took me on some sidetracks. It’s no longer realistic to think that I will do this 2017, but I will one day. I’m simply to stubborn to give up on a goal. It’s the viking in me that refuses to give up.

Happy Trails (the photo in today’s post,) comes to life with the texture and added depth of a wood print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of thick maple wood. There are D-clips on the back of the print for mounting it to your wall using mounting hooks and nails (included). Ships within 2 – 3 business days.

That said, the new horizon that I see, is very appealing. I see myself getting more and more attuned to my homesteading goal, and at the same time fine tuning my photography niche. I like where I am going. I am happy, content, and excited at the same time. There is a lot of work ahead of me, and plenty of things for me to learn, and I like it. I thrive tremendously with goals to work towards. How about you? Do you set new years resolutions? Do you have a specific goal in mind for 2017? I would love to hear about it!!

All the best,
Maria Jansson
